Viewing Problems

You will need the free Acrobat® Reader® (or Adobe® Reader, as they now call it) or another PDF viewer to view the magazine. You can download the latest version from Adobe, if you do not already have it.

If you already have Acrobat Reader and it works, there is probably no need to download a newer version, at least not to read BleueFantaisie. BleueFantaisie is in a format that is supposed to be compatible with versions of Acrobat Reader as old as version 4. (The current version is 7.)

If you do decide to install the latest version, especially if you already have an older version, be sure to close your web browser and any Acrobat Reader windows you may have open. Failure to do this will prevent the new version from replacing some of the old files, and is almost certain to cause Acrobat Reader not to work. If you share your computer with others in your family or office and are running Windows® XP or other multi-user operating system, make sure no other users have web browser or Acrobat Reader windows open.

If you have trouble after upgrading Reader, make sure that no web browser or Acrobat Reader windows are open. Uninstall Acrobat Reader. (In Windows XP, Start>->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs. In older versions of Windows, or if you use the Classic start menu, use Start->Settings->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs.) Select Change or Remove Programs. If you had an older version of Acrobat Reader, it is possible that both versions, and possibly some updates, may be shown in the list of installed programs. Remove all versions of Acrobat Reader or Adobe Reader, starting with the most recent. Then run the Acrobat Reader installation program again.

If you are still unable to view the e-zine in your web browser, try downloading it to your computer and viewing it in Acrobat Reader "stand-alone," not in the web browser. (You can also do this if you want to read the e-zine later, without having to be connected to the Internet.)

Click on the magazine cover with the right mouse button; select "Save link as..." or "Save link target as..." (the exact wording depends on the web browser -- Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, etc. -- you use) from the pop-up menu. Save the file to somewhere on your computer. Open the folder in which you saved it. Double-click on the file, and it should open in Acrobat Reader.

If all else fails, contact webmaster@BleueFantaisieE-zine.com. I'll do my best to help you.

What is PDF?

PDF is an abbreviation for Portable Document Format. As the name suggests, it is designed to allow a document to be viewed as the author indended, regardless of the reader's computer or software. The details of PDF are public, so others have also written software to display PDF documents, but Acrobat Reader is available for Windows, Macintosh® and Linux, it is written by Adobe, the people who created PDF, so it works well, and it is free.
